Gold Country Jazz Concert as a Young Life Fundraiser

Enjoy a touch of Monterey Jazz Festival quality music and schmoozing right here in Auburn.   Auburn Gold Country Young Life www.younglife.org/us is working together with Unity Music to pull off a wonderful live jazz performance with Jamie Davis as its centerpiece.  In addition, Tessa Evans, a local jazz musician will perform as guest vocalist.  Jamie has worked closely with the Count Basie Band, worked with Wynton and Ellis Marsalis and perform throughout Europe, is currently in Asia and will travel to Moscow shortly after this Auburn gig.

Jamie Davis

Clint Eastwood enthused by Jamie’s performance at the Monterey Jazz Festival said “...Jamie Davis is one of my favorite singers”.

Unity Music, founded by Sam Beler, is an artist owned label that works at creating partnerships around the world.  When asked what unity music stands for Beler expressed, “prisons, schools, foundations, and in general, reaching out to people through the medium of music”; in this case Unity is reaching out for the purpose of young people.  Most recently, Unity performed a major outreach with a concert IN Angola Prison, Louisiana.

Young Life

According to Beler, ‘there is a greater purpose than the music.’  In the case of this concert, “we have two different organizations (Unity and Young Life) that think the same way”.  We go to an outside turf and we bring a bit of light.  In this common effort in Auburn we are attempting to create partnerships with community, business, schools, churches and people of all ages.  This jazz concert falls on the same weekend as a community art tour and wine tour.  In addition, there is a focus on the Placer High School fall drama performance “Our Town” and a student visual arts display in “The Dungeon Gallery” just across from the performing arts building.  In all, we have a montage of community and high school arts.Tessa

For those who enjoy live jazz, the intimate setting of a marvelously beautiful performing arts theatre setting, and possess an interest in supporting our high school youth and the respective programs and activities in which they participate—here are the important details.

The performance is November 13, 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30) at the Placer High School Performing Arts Theatre; the tickets are $30 for general admission and $50 for VIP preferred seating and a signed CD; and all information regarding the concert and the “partnerships” involved can be attained on our website at http://www.unity-music.net/auburn.html
