After careful and lengthy discussions and consideration of various options, the Auburn Chamber of Commerce decided that the Auburn Family 4th Celebration cannot be held this year due to Covid19 and concerns for public health and safety. Auburn joins dozens of other California cities throughout the state in deciding to not hold its summertime event.
The annual Auburn Chamber of Commerce Family 4th is normally held at the Gold Country Fairgrounds and includes food, music, & a parade down Lincoln Way to High Street, culminating in a fireworks display at night. The 4th of July Committee stated, “This was a very difficult decision. Many alternatives and options were discussed and considered. This event takes many months, sponsorships and dozens of volunteers to plan and carry out. With the uncertainty as to future public event requirements, we felt a duty to our sponsors, volunteers and to public health and safety in cancelling the parade and fireworks festival. We are very disappointed in making this tough decision.”
Auburn City and Placer County officials acknowledged the Chamber of Commerce’s difficult decision regarding the enjoyable family event. In the coming months, the Auburn Chamber of Commerce will continue to monitor state and local events and health restrictions with the hope that an alternate community event could be planned later this year.
The Auburn Family 4th relies solely on community sponsorships and your donations. You may still donate towards a 2020 Auburn community celebration. If that cannot be scheduled, your donation will be used to support the Auburn Chamber of Commerce Family 4th in 2021.
