“Preserving Special Places and Open Spaces in the American River and Cosumnes River watersheds” Speaker Elena DeLacy is Executive Director of the American River Conservancy (ARC). She will review ARC’s strategy for conservation and stewardship of watershed lands in our region and will provide an overview of oak woodland ecology and the importance of this habitat type as wildlife corridors, working landscapes and recreational lands. Elena became Executive Director of ARC in January 2019, where she previously held the roles of Stewardship Director and Associate Director. During her 17-year tenure at ARC, Elena has managed several successful habitat restoration and land acquisition projects and has built relationships with local and regional funding agencies, partners and stakeholders. She has also served as the Lead Instructor for the California Naturalist Certification Course at ARC. Ms. DeLacy is a passionate advocate for land conservation in the greater Sacramento region and the Sierra Nevada, the source of 60% of California’s water. Born and raised in Sacramento, Elena received her Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Science from UC Davis.
