PATRICK’S DAY PARADE GENERAL RULES AND GUIDELINES Effective February 8, 2023 (Please read the rules and guidelines carefully before signing the parade entry application) THE AUBURN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE’S ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE celebrates St. Patrick's Day with a parade that provides entertainment, community spirit, and fun for all to enjoy. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION: The parade is a “family friendly” celebration and parade participation must be appropriate to be seen by all ages. The parade will not be used as a platform for special interests in any way, shape or form. The rules and guidelines are for the safety & quality of the parade. Entry applications are subject to approval by parade organizers. All application decisions made by the parade organizers are final. Failure to abide by these rules and guidelines may result in the entry's removal from the parade & future parades. ENTRY APPLICATION FORM: The entry application form must be completed and signed with the understanding of the general rules and guidelines. The parade organizers reserve the right to reject any entry at any time. Applicants will receive notification of their acceptance. Staging instructions will be emailed or mailed prior to the parade & will be available on the day of the parade at check in. ANIMALS: Our insurance no longer covers any type of animals in our parades. In order to have an animal in the parade even if inside a car, you must have your own insurance for that animal with the Auburn Chamber of Commerce being named as additionally insured. FORWARD MOTION PARADE: All entries are required to maintain a continuous forward motion during the parade. No stopping to perform anywhere along the parade route. HANDOUTS, CANDY OR FAVORS: Handouts, packaged candy, and favors may not be thrown from the entry. Throwing any items from or along the parade route is a serious safety factor; one that has resulted in injuries in other parades. This will result in banning from future Auburn CHamber of Commerce Parades. IDENTIFICATION SIGNS: Identification banners are encouraged for entries in the parade. Signs must be for identification purposes. Phone numbers, addresses, websites or other contact information on identification signs are allowed. Signs for special interest purposes are not permitted. TYPES OF ENTRIES CONSIDERED FOR THE PARADE FLOATS: We recommend floats for this parade or decorated trailers. A description of the float design with size dimensions must be submitted with the parade application. Floats should not exceed 80 feet in length (including tow vehicle) or more than 14 feet in height and 10 feet wide. ​ VEHICLES: Vehicles considered for entry must be decorated. Vehicles such as oversized vans, tankers, farm machinery, tractor-trailers and other large vehicles are not encouraged due to liability and safety concerns. Vehicles permitted in the parade will be restricted in numbers (example - car clubs may be limited to 8-10 cars). No commercial or private vehicles are allowed in the parade without an approved application by the parade staff. PARTICIPANT AGE RESTRICTIONS: There must be at least one adult escort for every six children under the age of 13 years. Young children riding on a float must have adult supervision on and around them at all times. HAVE FUN: Auburn has a long history of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a parade. This event is a family friendly event & is for all to come & enjoy celebrating. ​ Official Entry Application must be signed. Application sent to Auburn Chamber of Commerce no later than March 15.   • Festival of Lights | Auburn Chamber | December 2nd

    Festival of Lights! Become a Sponsor Apply to Join The Parade Please Note: Parade Float Registrations are full but our Sponsorships & Vendor Applications are still open! Dear Parade Participant: We invite you to submit your application for this year's Festival of Lights Parade. The parade will take place on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. All entries must be lit and express the theme of the parade, which is: “Light Up The Season” Awards will be given based on creativity and use of lights. All entry fees are non-refundable. They are required to help cover expenses of putting on the parade. All entries must be pre-registered with one entry per form. Non-registered entries will NOT be accepted the evening of the parade. Entries will be limited to 100 on a first come, first serve basis, No exceptions. The deadline for parade entries is Friday, November 17, 2023; 5:00 p.m. ​ All registration forms will be processed and a letter of confirmation for parade participants will be emailed by November 22, 2023. ​ Participants are required to complete the parade route, complying with Parade Official’s instructions up to and through the Parade termination point. CHECK IN AND REGISTRATION IS ON BORLAND AVE OR TOP OF ELM AVE & LINCOLN WAY BETWEEN 2:00 AND 4:30 PM. PARADE ROUTE For participants: The Parade route will flow from the Downtown area onto High Street then turn up into the Fairgrounds off of High. Large Floats that cannot make the turn inside the fairgrounds can pass by the fairgrounds and continue out to Auburn Folsom into regular traffic if safe to do so. They can also pass the fairgrounds entrance and wait on High Street to unload riders while the streets are closed. Staging occurs in the streets of Downtown, Lincoln Way and Borland Ave. The Parade completes at the Upper Parking Lot at the Fairgrounds. There the entries can disembark their passengers for pickup. ​ For Parade Watchers: The parade officially begins at Cherry Ave and Lincoln Way and ends as noted above. We will have floats coming down Cherry Ave from Borland to the corner of Lincoln Way and Cherry will be blocked to spectators. ENTRY FEES $60 FOR ENTRY UP TO 40 FEET $90 FOR ENTRY UP TO 60 FEET $125 FOR UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 80 FEET Important Guidelines/Policies to Know and Follow CHAIRS must be SECURED and Supports used for riders’ safety. NOTHING may be thrown into the crowd or distributed along parade route. This is a safety issue. No HANDBILLS, COUPONS, FLYERS, OR WRITTEN MATERIALS of any kind may be distributed along the parade route or during the parade. This is a safety and clean-up issue. Floats/Entries may NOT have SANTA or MRS. CLAUS on or used in their floats/entries. Santa & Mrs. Claus are already in the parade. All animal entries (Horses, Llamas, Dogs…) MUST have their own insurance coverage with the Auburn Chamber named as an additionally insured. Animal entries are responsible for their own clean-up. Once a month, from September through June, members of the Leadership Auburn Class will meet for a session in which important community issues are presented and discussed. Attendance at the two day retreat from the morning of September 16th through the 17th, 2023, in Grass Valley is required.
